Baltimore magazine’s 2018 Excellence in Nursing Dinner and Awards Reception

On April 18, Baltimore magazine hosted its fourth-annual Excellence in Nursing dinner and awards ceremony at the Delta Hotels Baltimore Hunt Valley to celebrate the special editorial feature in our May issue. Friends, family, and colleagues gathered together to toast 50 of the region’s top nurses spanning 21 specialties for their extraordinary contributions to healthcare. The honorees were hand selected by Ken Iglehart, managing editor of special sections, along with Rebecca Kirkman and a committee of eight nurses advisors. After sifting through hundreds of nominations, Ken and the selection committee were excited to give each of these remarkable nurses a plaque to acknowledge their dedication to their fields.

To capture the special evening, presenting sponsor, GBMC HealthCare, hosted a Baltimore magazine themed photo booth. Guests had their moment in the spotlight as they posed in front of the Pixilated camera for a Baltimore magazine mock cover shot. Following cocktails, guests were invited into the ballroom where GBMC HealthCare’s Art of Nursing Ambassador, Matt Stover, delivered a wonderful and inspiring speech. After a formal sit-down dinner, honorees had their moment on stage to be congratulated for their tenacity and enthusiasm as professionals in the nursing community.

Along with an award presented by the Maryland Nurses Association, nurses were given wrist corsages or boutonnières from Flowers & Fancies to signify their special role in the evening’s festivities. Additional sponsorship support came from the University of Maryland Medical System, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, The Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union, Saint Agnes, and LifeBridge Health.
