Editorial Intern

We are looking for motivated, resourceful, highly efficient interns for the upcoming semester.


Responsibilities:

  • Fact checking editorial copy
  • Update and maintain online and print calendar listings
  • Writing event coverage for print and blogs
  • Additional clerical duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Coursework and/or experience in communications, journalism, English, and/or writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Availability at least two days a week (10 a.m.-5 p.m.)
  • Resourcefulness, creative thinking, and timeliness

Style Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with editor to coordinate and execute monthly pages.
  • Attend photo shoots and assist in set design and styling.
  • Pull and return merchandise to local stores.
  • Stay current on new fashion trends both nationally and locally.
  • Manage day-to-day tasks.
  • Research and analyze shopping trends in the area as it pertains to the customer.
  • Assist in updating weekly blog posts.
  • Communicate with local business owners to maintain awareness of new merchandise arriving.

Qualifications:

  • Coursework and experience in fashion/journalism or related field.
  • Interest and knowledge in fashion, home décor, and beauty.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Knowledge of the area and local business market.
  • Ability to write copy.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must have own transportation.

Video Intern

Baltimore magazine’s growing digital department is seeking students with refined production and post-production skills and an interest in video journalism for an internship. Interns will gain experience in shooting and editing short-form, documentary-style videos, as well as assisting with live-streaming videos for our social media platforms.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Working toward a degree in journalism, film, or similar discipline
  • Strong editing and narrative storytelling skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot lighting and audio issues before post-production
  • Ability to work in the field with limited supervision
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere editing software
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Basic understanding of copyright law

Digital Intern

Baltimore magazine’s growing digital department is seeking students with refined writing skills and digital media experience for an internship. Interns will gain experience in creating original journalistic content for our website, as well as brainstorming and crafting social media postings for our various platforms.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Working toward a degree in journalism
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Ability to work in the field with limited supervision
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

Social Media Marketing Intern

Baltimore magazine is looking for a smart, versatile, hard-working, and talented intern who is interested in learning how to build, manage, and grow our magazine through engaging our audience via social media platforms. In this role, you will work closely with the Digital and Social Media Producer learning and assisting with a variety of tasks and functions including audience development, content creation, social media marketing, event promotion, and video (via iPhone). You will use your passion for social media strategy and your analytical, creative mind to succeed. All interns receive hands-on mentoring and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and execute daily social media strategy and marketing campaigns;
  • Collaborate and abide by main calendar;
  • Content creation (marketing, editorial, and social);
  • Remain consistent and on-brand by writing in magazine’s voice;
  • Monitor and engage audience across all social channels;
  • Research and curate content and images for use on our social channels;
  • Monitor social analytics to identify trends and growth opportunities;
  • Conduct research and analysis of competitive or similar social channels/strategies;
  • Suggest new ways to attract prospective customers (promotions, contests, etc.);
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness;
  • Live event coverage (when applicable);
  • Assist with other special projects and events as needed

Qualifications:

  • Currently attending an accredited college/university with a focus in Social Media and Marketing.
  • Social media savvy with some experience growing audiences preferred
  • In depth knowledge of social networking platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to recognize and analyze online trends
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow directions
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task

Commitment:
Baltimore magazine’s Social Media Marketing Internship is a part-time position, eligible for college credit. We are ideally looking for a candidate who may be interested in joining our team beyond the internship program. Minimum 20 hours per week.

This position does require access to a smart phone/laptop (ability to access accounts on-the-go). In addition, occasional attendance at events during off hours (evenings/weekends) may be required.

Marketing and Events Intern

Baltimore magazine is looking for interns interested in learning about marketing, branding, event planning, promotions, and audience development. An ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, creative, organized, and self-motivated. As a Marketing and Events intern, you will work closely with our team learning and assisting with developing marketing campaigns, planning and executing events, assisting with data entry, researching, mailings, and promotional materials. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Must be willing to dedicate office hours as well as evenings and weekends to assist with event execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all marketing and event related activities and tasks being worked on are aligned with overall strategic direction;
  • Assist in all marketing related efforts, including the planning and coordination of events;
  • Assist with setup/breakdown of events;
  • Help to create event timelines, contact information documents, schedules, etc.
  • Assist with developing and writing copy for marketing materials, signage, event microsites, etc.
  • Manage ticketing partner(s);
  • Maintain RSVP lists;
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshooting during events;
  • Help execute post-event surveys and prepare post-event recaps;
  • Create and manage event photo galleries on website(s);
  • Assist with procuring event materials as well as brainstorming new and innovative event ideas;
  • Assist with other Marketing department special projects, events, research, and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Currently attending an accredited college/university with a focus in Marketing;

As part of the internship program, this position does require occasional attendance at events during off hours (evenings/weekends). Possession of a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle preferred. Must possess the strength to lift and carry materials weighing at least 15 lbs. without assistance during event setup. Must be able to stand on feet for long hours at a time.
