Dr. William E. Hatcher, a prominent Baptist minister, founded Fork Union Academy in October of 1898 with nineteen students in the first class. The military structure provides organization, discipline, and physical development for the young men. That mission continues today and now includes young men from 33 states and 8 countries in grades 7th through 12th and a high school post graduate program.
Our mission is to educate, develop, and inspire young men in a college preparatory, Christian, military environment. Cadets build character, and learn leadership, independence, confidence, responsibility, and discipline in a setting that encourages mental, physical, and spiritual growth.
