In Good Company: The Future is Female
Thursday, July 18, 2019 at South Point
On July 18th, Baltimore and Port Covington hosted The Future is Female, the second event of our In Good Company networking series. We gathered at South Point for this sold-out affair and experienced a night full of meaningful connections and an empowering panel discussion. Even the sweltering heat did not stop attendees from enjoying this motivational networking opportunity.
An incredible performance by singer Joi Carter was the perfect way to kick off the evening. The panel discussion, led by Baltimore’s Editor in Chief Max Weiss, consisted of five inspiring and powerful women: Jill Smokler, founder of Scary Mommy; Kara Redman, owner and CEO of Backroom; Elsa M., Midday Maryland TV Host; Dr. Letitia Dzirasa, the Baltimore City Health Commissioner; and Alexa Kim, the VP of Technology at MICA. They shared honest accounts of their experiences being women in the workplace, as well as their “I Made it Moments” that defined their successes. The timeliness and relatability of the discussion connected with the audience, encouraging an atmosphere of unity and mutual respect. Following the panel and thunderous applause, Cheri Belski of T.Rowe Price and head of the women’s resource group, WAVE, made impactful closing remarks perfectly complementing the theme of female empowerment showcased during this event.
Throughout the evening, guests sipped on Don Julio margaritas and palomas, while indulging in a tasty catered spread Nick’s Fish House. Flowers and Fancies’ beautiful picnic-inspired bouquets were the perfect decor for this event. Pixilated offered guests the opportunity to strike a pose and take a small piece of this unforgettable evening home. Each guest enjoyed a multi-use notebook, courtesy of the Mumaw Claster Group, and custom nametags from CC&A Strategic Media.
