CHANDICE HOOD

As part of a military family, Chandice makes every moment count. After her family moved to Maryland, she volunteered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County (BGC). A natural leader with unflagging positivity, the Winters Mills High School junior is the BGC Military Youth of the Year. Her impact stretches across the county. The Carroll County Health Department used her podcast series about the dangers of vaping in its Tobacco and Vaping Prevention programs, and her Mental Health Matters video project on positive coping skills was aired on the Carroll County Public Access Channel and used by Carroll County Public Schools. As BGC Social Media Intern, she employs TikTok and Instagram to give kids a positive way to share their voice.

“Chandice’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion to help others have resulted in an impactful mental health program that supports youth and helps them to find positive ways to cope with stress and anxiety.” —Mollie Yingling, LMSW, Social and Emotional Wellness Director, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County
