Julia Arfaa’s start in private practice may have been modest, but the growth of ARFAA Law Group, specializing in plaintiff’s trial law for medical malpractice and catastrophic injury, has been impressive. A graduate of Smith College and Syracuse University College of Law, she opened the firm in 2013, starting out in a small room in her house with one assistant. Her offices are now on two floors in Clipper Mill, and her staff has grown to an associate attorney, three paralegals, an administrative assistant, and a summer law intern. “Hopefully it will continue to expand and we can continue to serve those in need of legal help,” says Arfaa. “I always wanted to be a trial lawyer or surgeon and help people,” she says. And she managed to combine both callings: “Medical malpractice trial law is the perfect fit.” “At Arfaa Law Group, we have achieved record-breaking results for victims of medical malpractice throughout the state of Maryland. We also have secured many substantial verdicts and settlements for victims in other personal injury claims.” A fan of deep-sea fishing and the beach who has two dogs, a Lab and a goldendoodle, she says the best advice she ever got was from her father. “He was my greatest mentor in life. He always told me the sky was the limit and that the only limits in life are the ones you place on yourself.”
