Lisa Rusyniak has spent more than 25 years working for Goodwill and has dedicated herself to addressing poverty in the community through the power of work. As president and CEO for the past 12 years, she is committed more than ever to breaking down barriers to employment and connecting people to careers. Last year, Goodwill introduced training programs like certified nursing assistant, and expansion of its pharmacy tech training to include the national certification, various software certifications, and pre-apprenticeship programs. Also, its participants average starting wage increased to $16.08. In the fall of 2023, Rusyniak is leading the launch of The Excel Center, the first tuition-free adult high school in the state to provide a high school education and degree to adults 21 and over. As a social enterprise, Goodwill uses the sale of donated goods to fund its workforce development programs.
