Southside Stakes at the Baltimore Museum of Industry
Baltimore's most talented bartenders face off to concoct creative Southside cocktails.
On June 22, Baltimore magazine hosted “Southside Stakes” at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. A dozen of the city’s most talented crafters from the Baltimore Bartenders Guild used liquor from members of the Maryland Distillers Guild to concoct creative renditions of the Baltimore country club classic, the Southside. The event featured food from Mother’s Grille, craft beer from Flying Dog Brewery, and live music from Letitia VanSant in a sunny, waterfront setting. At the end of the evening, two winners were crowned: Amie Ward from Aggio, who competed using Sagamore Rye Whiskey, won the people’s choice award and Chelsea Klusewitz from Bad Decisions, who used Baltimore Whiskey Company’s Show Tower Gin, won the judge’s choice award. All in all, it was a beautiful (and boozy!) evening.
