Birroteca Expands

The Hampden-based Birroteca, one of our favorite go-to places for artisanal pizza and craft beer, is expanding to Harford County.

Plans are currently under way for a sister spot to open at 1226 Bel Air Road, sometime in late September or early October on the former site of Bill Batemans’ Raw Bar & Grill.

Birroteca owner Robbin Haas, once named one of the top 10 chefs in America by Food & Wine Magazine, also owns Nickel Taphouse in Mt. Washington.

Haas, whose extensive resume includes gigs at Nokiate and Bistrot Cinq in Antigua, Guatemala, says he envisions opening a fourth restaurant sometime within the year. No word yet on what type of cuisine will be on offer.
