Beloved, homey Hamilton hotspot Clementine will be serving its final meal on Aug. 9.
After seven years of turning out sophisticated comfort food and signature charcuterie along Harford Road, Winston Blick, the chef and co-owner along with his wife, Cristin Dadant, plan to transform Clementine into a full-time catering company.
“[The restaurant business] is the toughest business ever,” Dadant told The Sun. . . . “And our events schedule has really been picking up. You start to ask yourselves, ‘What’s going to give?’ And then, you think ‘What about the restaurant?’”
In addition to weddings and business parties, the duo will cater special events at Boordy Vineyards and Artscape, where they’ll be working this weekend.
When it opened, Clementine was a quick hit in its Hamilton hood and was an early pioneer in the local farm-to-table movement.
“The first evening we opened, a soft opening, there was a line around the corner. It was really flattering,” Blick told us in 2013. “My philosophy is teaching people about food and connecting people with food. I think what we’re doing is important.”
The couple’s Green Onion Market, also in Hamilton, will continue to stay open for business.
