The Best Places to Party for Orioles Opening Day

Call out sick, throw on your orange, and ring in the return of baseball in Baltimore with these food and drink specials.

For Baltimoreans, Opening Day at Camden Yards is as much of a holiday as Thanksgiving or Christmas. Before the first pitch on Monday, March 31, at 2:35 p.m., log off early (or call out altogether—we don’t judge), throw on your orange, and head to any one of these local watering holes to welcome the birds back to Baltimore for another season. For those not heading to Birdland, these spots all over town are ideal for taking advantage of discounted eats and drinks while watching the O’s magic unfold on TV with fellow fans and friends.

Claddagh Pub: If you’ll be tuning in from Canton, this O’Donnell Square favorite is offering $3 Bud Lights and a deal on 30 wings for $28 during game time. Plus, from 4 to 7 p.m., you can also get half-off bottles of wine, $5 sangria, and $7 Orange Crushes as part of the bar’s regular Monday specials.

Das Bierhalle: This Parkville beer hall is teaming up with Bmore Around Town to host a boozy brunch as a pregame for the afternoon festivities. Ticketholders can get the party started at Das before boarding a luxury bus to the group’s all-inclusive tailgate—an outdoor rager complete with food, drinks, live music, games, and more—on Ostend Street before the game. Not going to the stadium? Stick around Das to enjoy $15 domestic buckets and $5 Oriole Bombs (orange vodka, an energy drink, and a splash of orange juice) as the birds crush the Red Sox.

Hair of the Dog: Backing the O’s from Fed Hill? Hair of the Dog’s 20 big screens and 110-inch HD projector make a great gameday headquarters. For $18, get four hot dogs (or four sliders for $22) paired with a pitcher of Boh during the game.

Jimmy’s Famous Seafood: The Dundalk seafood staple is hosting its Famous TailGOAT on Russell Street with country star Dustin Lynch on Opening Day. As always, tickets include an open bar, unlimited game day food, live performances, and activities in the lot just 10 minutes from Camden Yards. Buses leave from Jimmy’s at 10:30 a.m.

Mt. Washington Tavern: You can always count on this Mt. Washington neighborhood haunt for specials on game days. Grab a spot at the bar to tip back $3 16-oz. Natty Boh cans, $8 Orange Crushes, and $8 Checkerspot Brewing Bird is the Word cans.

Pickles Pub and Section 771: Sure, these neighboring Orioles destinations (located exactly 771 feet away from home plate) are technically two separate establishments, but on game days, they share the same spirit. Beginning bright and early at 7 a.m., join the crowds downing Crushes, shotgunning Bohs, and dancing to live DJs outside on Washington Boulevard. The first 200 people to order a drink at Section 771 will get a free Opening Day T shirt.

Pratt Street Ale House: Expect hyped-up, orange-clad crowds spilling out of this Orioles fixture—located just down the street from the stadium—all day long. Per tradition, Pratt Street is opening early at 10 a.m., when 100.7 The Bay will begin broadcasting live. Fans can enter to win concert tickets, scratch-offs, and more. If you do swing by, be sure to try the new baseball-ready beer, I Wish I Was At The Yard—a double dry-hopped pale ale brewed collaboratively by Oliver Brewing Co. and Monument City.

Public House: Just in time for baseball season, this Federal Hill joint has dropped a menu of eight new hot dogs. Head to the bar to chow down on the ballpark favorite (in Big Mac, Hawaiian, Detroit, and Philly style) while enjoying $4 Orange Crush slushies, $6 O’s bombs, and $15-25 domestic buckets full of beers and seltzers. And if you need a PTO note, Public House has you covered.

Rusty Scupper: Looking for the perfect orange-inspired drink? Stop by Rusty Scupper for an “O” Crush—mixing vanilla vodka, triple sec, and orange juice over crushed ice. The Inner Harbor staple will also serve the “O”-maz-ing—a fruity combination of Malibu coconut and passion fruit rum, triple sec, orange and pineapple juice, grenadine, and a splash of Sprite. The drinks are only available for the Monday opener.

SoBo Brewery District: We can only expect that this band of breweries surrounding the stadium will pour thousands of collective pints in celebration of Opening Day. If you feel confident in your cornhole game, head to any of the spots—Checkerspot, M8, Wico Street, or Pickett—and attempt to sink a beanbag on your first try. Winners will receive a buy-one, get-one pint voucher redeemable in any of the taprooms.
