City celebrates the World Cup

Baltimoreans show their patriotism for the U.S. vs. Germany game.

Not much work is going to get done around lunchtime today, as the U.S. takes on Germany in the World Cup at noon. And the city is celebrating everywhere.

Downtown Partnership is hosting a “networking event” at Delia Foley’s in Federal Hill—though they admit “okay, it’s really a World Cup party.” Power Plant Live, like they have done for the first two U.S. games, is projecting the match onto a 20-foot LED screen and featuring a DJ and various beer specials. Even Enoch Pratt Free Library is getting in on the fun by broadcasting the game in the central branch’s main hall. Of course, there are also tons of bars where you can celebrate, if that’s more your thing.

Also, we’ve gone scouting around town for some of the most patriotic fans and posted our favorites below.
