The Birds Nest

Orioles Stud of the Week

This left fielder embodies the Orioles' next-man-up ethos.

With Chris Davis out of the lineup, the Orioles are desperately in need of a leftie with a little power. Enter Alejandro De Aza, who was (coincidentally?) acquired from the White Sox on August 30. He probably won’t continue at his current scorching pace (a .341 average with 2 home runs and 6 RBI over his last 10 games) but he has certainly come in handy down the stretch.

Stud of the Week for September 8-15:
Alejandro De Aza

The Line:
Against the Red Sox on September 9: 3 for 4 with two home runs.

Studliest Moment:
The above line speaks for itself.

The Clincher:
The 30-year-old De Aza says he feels energized by his time with the contending Orioles. “I feel young again,” he told The Baltimore Sun. “I feel 20.”
