Mother Nature and Gertrude’s Chesapeake Kitchen were to the perfect hosts for this year’s “Twilight on the Terrace,” the annual evening garden party benefiting The Pride Center of Maryland and Maryland LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce. Scores of guests enjoyed idyllic summer breezes in the Baltimore Museum of Art Sculpture Garden while indulging in Gertrude’s food and drink. A live DJ provided the sunset soundtrack for attendees to start off Pride Weekend as they should—on the dance floor.

Don’t bug Curt Decker about his style. He’s already beaten you to it. The retired lawyer, former national disability rights lobbyist, and gay rights activitist is known not only for his “elegant flamboyant” style, but for the array of bug brooches he’s usually sporting on his jackets.
Those he wore to Twilight on the Terrace are just three of the some 50 he owns—all Southwest Native American Zuni jewelry he’s picked up in Santa Fe on his annual jaunts there—showing his passion for indigenous art.
“I’ve been buying Zuni bug brooches for 20 years,” he said. “I started wearing them on tuxedos about 15 years ago to dress up the all-black formal wear and they became conversation starters. Now, if I’m not wearing them, I get asked ‘Why aren’t you wearing any bugs?’”
As for the rest of his picture-perfect garden party attire: that’s an Italian linen shirt with a hibiscus pattern he bought at Gian Marco Menswear downtown. He paired it with Paul Fredrick cream linen pants and a salmon linen jacket.
