Women are an essential part of the engine that makes our region thrive. In our annual section that follows, Women Who Move Maryland, we spotlight women professionals who play a leading role in Baltimore and beyond.
We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Marian House, which will receive a portion of the section’s proceeds. Marian House is a women-led Baltimore City nonprofit organization devoted to empowering women with complex histories of trauma who are ready to put in the hard work to rebuild their lives—against all odds.
Marian House provides community-based transitional, affordable, and permanent supportive housing and comprehensive, rehabilitative services that guide women from dependence to independence.
For over four decades, Marian House has addressed the often-overlooked needs of women in Maryland, assisting them in breaking cycles of homelessness, recidivism, substance use disorder, abuse, and trauma. Since its inception, Marian House has served over 4,950 women and families. By equipping women with essential tools and resources—such as housing, counseling, job training, and life skills education—women are able to heal and achieve their goals. Through this important work, they strengthen the larger community of Baltimore, reminding us that each woman’s success is our success.
